ISLAMABAD: A man arrested for trespassing on a woman’s house on May 15, has been released on bail.

Nasim Khan, who the police said worked at the PM House, was booked on the complaint of a woman he had befriended through Facebook. Police said that the suspect had gone to meet the woman but was beaten up by her brothers.

He later returned and began firing a gun in the air while also damaging the family’s property. The police arrested Khan in Bhara Kahu on May 15.

Earlier, the interior ministry had clarified that the suspect was not a protocol officer to the PM as was initially reported, but was a clerk at the Press Information Department.

Arshad Ali, the investigation officer of the case, however, said on Friday that the suspect did work at the PM House.

He said that the complainant recorded her statement before a magistrate, saying the incident occurred due to a misunderstanding and that she had forgiven Khan. “The court then accepted Khan’s bail application,” said the police officer. He said that the case would be disposed of soon as the complaint has been withdrawn.
