The JI chief made the remarks while addressing journalists in Multan before departing for Rohri in connection with the party’s anti-corruption drive. Over 1,000 party activists including peasants, farmers and workers had gathered at the Multan Railway Station earlier on Thursday to welcome the JI chief. Haq—who was injured while attempting to board a moving train at the Kot Radha Kishan Station—said the JI would continue its anti-corruption struggle till financial malpractice was eradicated. The JI chief warned that those participating in the anti-corruption drive might turn towards Islamabad.
Haq said the Panama Papers had unveiled the corrupt and the JI wanted across-the-board accountability. He said the prevailing state of affairs had left the nation vulnerable. The JI chief said the government was following in the footsteps of its predecessors. He said this was the reason behind rampant corruption. Haq said it was virtually impossible to get anything done without offering bribes.
The JI chief said corrupt leaders had left the nation imperilled. He said the people might take to the streets and make their way towards the federal capital if an autonomous constitution was not constituted to look into the Panama revelations. Later at Bahawalpur Railway Station, the JI chief said that with the corrupt at the helm of affairs, the rich had been getting richer while the poor had been getting poorer. Haq said the people should support the JI to ensure that corruption was eradicated. He said the party would strive to protect minorities once it came to power.
Haq said the enshrining of a delinquent system had only resulted in poverty, inflation, unemployment and lawlessness. He said the people should unite against feudalism and capitalism. Haq said the people should not rest till corruption had been eradicated. He said the JI had organised its anti-corruption drive to organise the people against financial malpractice and raise public awareness regarding it. He vowed to accord the status of a province to Bahawalpur, ensure provision of water and provide the people of Cholistan with land. He said free education and shelter would be given to the people in a JI-governed Pakistan.
