Seeking proposals: Criminal justice system reforms sought

With low conviction rate of criminals and terrorists from the courts because of weak prosecution and investigations, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar on Thursday approved formation of a core group that will give recommendations for revamping of criminal justice system. The Federal Core Group comprises representatives of federal and provincial governments, civil society, political parties and international organisations working on criminal justice system reforms. Nisar observed that a consensus was needed on speedy and logical reformation of the criminal justice system on key aspects of police, prosecution, courts and corrections.
