LAHORE: A litigant said that he had been beaten up by his lawyer following an argument over case fee at Model Town courts on Sunday.

Ashraf Ali told The Express Tribune that he had been beaten up by his lawyer, Advocate Muhammad Amir, when he had refused to pay him more than the amount which had been settled between them for a case.

Ali said he had hired Amir to get a suspect released on bail.

He said the lawyer could not get him released on Sunday. He said he had paid the lawyer Rs3,000 in fee but he asked for Rs5,000. “When I refused to pay more, he beat me up.”

Advocate Amir denied that he had beaten up his client. He said Ali had not paid him the promised fee and had also used derogatory language against him. He said he had agreed to not charge his client after he said he was too poor to pay him.
