Kidnapping for ransom: ATC grants custody of accused man till Feb 4

KARACHI: The Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATC) Karachi division sent a man, accused in two cases of kidnapping for ransom, into the physical custody of Gadap police till February 4.

The accused, Hakim Ali, was produced before Justice Sajjad Ali Shah of Sindh High Court, who is also the Administrative Judge for the ATCs Karachi division, on Friday. Ali had confessed that he was involved in two kidnapping cases.

In the first case, Ali said he kidnapped Tayyab Ahmed. The FIR was lodged on the complaint of Mehmood Ahmed, the victim’s brother, who claimed that he paid a lot of money to Ali and his absconding accomplices, namely Yousuf Bugti, Muneer Ahmed, Tariq Shaikh and Fatah Rind.

The second case was registered on complaint by Abdul Haneef, who told the police that the accused kidnapped Abdul Mumtazim and released him later after receiving the ransom money.

After hearing the special public prosecutor, the administrative judge declined the request for a 14-day remand and the accused has been taken into custody till February 4.
