HYDERABAD: The Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) will establish another state-of-the-art diagnostic centre in the premises of its Jamshoro campus. The university spokesperson said on Thursday that the objective of establishing this centre was to attend to the trauma patients with modern equipment, including computerised tomography (CT) scan and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facilities. LUMHS vice-chancellor Prof Noshad A Shaikh, who visited the proposed site of the centre, said that a large number of trauma patients come at the Jamshoro hospital of the varsity due to road accidents on Super and Indus highways. However, he said, due to the lack of CT scan and MRI facilities, the hospital management has no choice but to refer these patients to Hyderabad. In view of such situation, said Shaikh, the university management has decided to establish a new diagnostic centre with these facilities, which will start functioning within two to three months, he added.
