Checking at bus terminal: Two suspected terrorists arrested

Over 19,000 detonators recovered

RAWALPINDI: Police here on Wednesday held two suspected terrorists along 19,900 detonators during random checking of passengers and their luggage at the Pirwadhai Bus Terminal.

The arrested men were shifted to Pirwadhai Police Station for further investigation, while a case was also registered against them.

The suspected terrorists were identified as Ahmad Ali and Shahid both hailing from Charsadda.

According to the police, Pirwadhai police officials were on random checking of passengers and their luggage at the busy bus terminal, when they spotted a heap of bags lying at the terminal.

During search of 199 bags, the policemen found cables, detonators and other suspicious material and immediately called the bomb disposal squad and their high ups on the spot.

Later, the bomb disposal squad declared that the stuff packed in bags were detonators.

As many as 100 detonators were recovered from each bag. The police arrested two suspected terrorists.

Station House Officer (SHO) Pirwadhai Chaudhry Riaz, when contacted, said that police held two suspected terrorists who reached Rawalpindi with the detonators from Gilgit on a bus.

He said that the terrorists wanted to transport the detonators to Peshawar from Pirwadhai.

The SHO added that the police had been interrogating the arrested men about who provided them with the detonators and where they were destined for.
