KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) granted on Wednesday protective bail to the absconding associate of former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain, in a corruption case. Abdul Majeed, an accountant at Ziauddin Hospital currently living in Dubai, had moved the bail application through his lawyer. The petitioner said he was nominated in a reference prepared by the National Accountability Bureau against Dr Asim. He said he wanted to return to the country to appear in court but apprehends arrest as the accountability court had issued his arrest warrants. He pleaded the court grant him protective bail before arrest to enable him to surrender before the trial court when he returns. The bench granted him protective bail in sum of Rs300,000 till May 25 with directions to surrender before the trail court by the next hearing.
