LAHORE: Police have formulated a security plan to ensure the peaceful passage of Ramazan.

According to details, foolproof security arrangements will be made across religious sites during sehri and iftar. Over 10,000 policemen will be tasked with maintaining order. All divisional SPs will inspect security arrangements across mosques and imambargahs. The SPs have also been tasked with the responsibility to ensure that policemen remain present where deployed. The officials have also been instructed to ensure that policemen reach their stations at least 30 minutes before their reporting time.

Elite Force personnel will be deployed across all mosques and imambargahs deemed sensitive. Snipers will also be posted on the rooftops of such buildings. Police Response Unit and Dolphin Force personnel will patrol in their vicinity.

According to the plan, police have asked District Peace Committee members to earmark parking space at a distance of at least 100 metres from mosques and imambargahs. The plan was formulated in a meeting at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines. District Peace Committee members Intikhab Alam, Javed Akbar Saqi, Usman Noori, Kazim Raza, Asif Geelani, CCPO Amin Wains, Operations DIG Haider Ashraf and Operations SSP Liaquat Malik were present on the occasion.

Speaking to those present, CCPO Amin Wains said police would use all resources at its disposal to maintain order during the holy month and ensure its peaceful passage.
