Serious allegations: Petition against PIC admin, police
LAHORE:
Justice Muhammad Anwarul Haq of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday issued a notice to police in connection with a petition seeking the registration of a case against Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) functionaries and some policemen.
The counsel for lady health workers Nimra Majeed and Javeria Javed, the petitioners, told the court that some doctors and plainclothed policemen had beaten doctors protesting outside Doctors’ Hospital. He said they had not even spared women at the demonstration. The counsel said the men had also attacked newsmen covering the protest. He said all of this was orchestrated at the behest of PIC functionaries. The counsel said his clients had approached in vain the pertinent police station to have a case registered against the PIC principal, the PIC Medical Superintendent (MS) and the policemen. He said there had been zero movement on this account to date. The counsel requested the court to direct police to register a case against them.
