Drive continues: New case of polio surfaces in Bannu
PESHAWAR/TIMERGARA:
A new polio case surfaced from Bannu on Tuesday, bringing the total number of polio cases to six from K-P.
On the other hand, a review meeting was held to discuss arrangements made for polio drive in Lower Dir. On the occasion it was said at least 284,715 children below the age of five will be vaccinated against poliovirus during immunisation campaigns in 37 union councils of Lower Dir.
Lower Dir Deputy Commissioner Irfanullah Wazir was informed 737 mobile teams, 34 transit teams and 70 fixed teams had been constituted to vaccinate children in the region. According to Wazir, parents who refuse to vaccinate their children will be sent to jail. He urged teachers, clerics, journalists and government officials to actively participate in the drive.
