Holding accountable: Thatta DC fails to justify utilisation of funds
This irked PAC chairperson and its members who postponed the meeting
KARACHI:
Sindh Assembly's Public Accounts Committee chairperson Saleem Raza Jalbani expressed concern at the failure of Thatta district administration to give justification about the funds utilised in 2011-2012.
During a meeting on Monday, an official of the audit department presented anomalies worth millions of rupees in the accounts of Thar district's administration and government hospitals. It was also informed that Civil Hospital, Thatta, purchased furniture and medicines of Rs10 million without awarding tenders.
Thatta deputy commissioner tried to convince members to the contrary but could not substantiate his claims. This irked PAC chairperson and its members who postponed the meeting.
