PCB confirms two-week training camp in England

The team will be sent to Hampshire on June 14 or 15 in order for players to familiarise with UK conditions

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday, decided to send the national side to England for a two-week training camp, in order for players to familiarise with UK conditions, prior to their upcoming series in July.

Talking to APP, a top PCB official said that the team will be sent to England on June 14 or 15 for a two-week training camp. “Pakistan team will train for two weeks at the Rose Bowl cricket ground in Hampshire, England,” he said.



He also said that chief selector Inzamamul Haq and head coach Mickey Arthur were serious about having the team prepare in England prior to the series. “The chief selector is most likely to travel to England to monitor the players,” he said. “Arthur is also expected to join the team at the end of this month,” he added.

Earlier, the board had rejected the proposal to send the team to England to acclimatise to conditions, but after intervention from Inzamam and Arthur, gave a serious thought to the idea despite the expenses involved in such an exercise.



Pakistan will play its first practice match against Somerset from July 3 to July 5, while the second on from July 8 to July 10 against Sussex.

The main series against England team will begin with a Test on July 14.
