Vacancy: Teachers demand for director academics

GILGIT: The Teachers Association of Diamer district has demanded the government to fill the vacant post of director academics, said a statement issued by association’s president Haleem Fiazi here on Thursday.

After the former Director Academics Rao Mohammad Ikhlaq retired last year, the post has remained vacant and the teaching quality has been suffering as a result, the association’s president said.

“There is no one in our district to settle the issues being faced by teachers,” he added.

He said there are a lot of matters pertaining to teachers of the valley that are pending and unless a new director is appointed, they will
remain unresolved.

Fiazi said that district Diamer is the most neglected valley of the region with respect to infrastructure, education and
health facilities.

“If the teachers are suffering, it means the students are suffering, and ultimately education of the valley is being affected,” Fiazi said.

He added that since the former director academics’ retirement, the government has announced time and again that a competent person will be appointed for the post, “but nothing has been done so far”.
