ISLAMABAD:
A delegation of British MPs visited National University of Science and Technology (NUST) on Thursday for a study tour organised by the British Council.

Rector NUST Engineer Muhammad Asghar briefed the 11-member delegation led by  Roger Gale MP about the growth and progress made by the university over the years.

NUST was ranked 350th in the world, whereas in subject wise ranking it was rated 285th in Engineering and IT, 293rd in Medical Sciences and 260th in Natural Sciences, he informed.

“We are a country with abundant talent and capability,” he said, observing that “most of the talented students come from lower middle and middle class segments of the society.”

NUST is the only internationally ranked public sector university that not only provides the highest international standard education but makes it affordable through its most economical fee structure, the rector said.

He said the university receives a large number of female applicants in subjects like Engineering and Information Technology, Bio Sciences, Architecture and Civil Engineering which were previously considered to be highly male dominated.
