This was said during a news conference on Tuesday. High Court Bar Association President Syed Abid Hussain Bukhari and District Bar Association President Akhtar Hussain Qureshi were among those who spoke at the conference.
A group of lawyers also took to the streets and reiterated their demand for the arrest of the assailants.
During the conference, the lawyers said they will hold protests on a daily basis and boycott court proceedings on a regular basis if their demands are not met.
“We will ask civil society organisations, teachers, doctors, traders and political parties to join the protests,” a participant said.
Lawyers demanded the police should immediately constitute a special investigation team as per the wish of the victims’ families. They added the case should be dealt with in a suitable and effective manner.
Trail of violence
On May 5, four people – two lawyers and two teachers – were killed in DI Khan. The police believe all four people were targeted on sectarian grounds.
On May 6, lawyers took to the streets of DI Khan to raise a voice against the killings. Court proceedings were boycotted by lawyers as they went on strike.
Lawyers demanded the administration and government provide protection to their community and take strict action against the culprits. FIRs were registered against the target killings of the four people.
On the same day, an official of Board of Revenue, Anwar Zeb, was killed when unidentified people opened fire at his car on Dalazak Road within the jurisdiction of Paharipura police in Peshawar.
