ISLAMABAD:

China has the desire to increase economic cooperation with South Asian countries including Pakistan, said Chinese Vice Minister for Commerce Gao Yan while talking to Voice of America.

She said China-South Asia common interests were increasing and China was desirous of broadening cooperation among industrial and trade organisations of South Asian countries.

“Many projects under ‘one-belt one-road’ are being undertaken, which would help develop economies of concerned countries and provide a vigorous platform for cooperation,” she said.

“Last year, the trade volume of China-South Asia crossed the $1.01 trillion mark, which is 4.9% higher than that of 2014,” said Yan, adding that China was an important source of foreign direct investment (FDI) for those South Asian countries.
