Ali Zafar, who was one of the first Pakistani actors to play a lead role in a Bollywood film, takes pride in the fact that his work has promoted talent exchange between the two countries.

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, the singer-actor said, “I take great privilege in the fact that back in the day, when I came here to shoot Tere Bin Laden in 2008, there was no real exchange happening between Pakistan and India; there was no real concept of having a Pakistani as a lead in an Indian film."

"Things changed as Laden happened, and the credit goes to the producer and the director also. The film did well critically and commercially too,” he added.

Ali's box office success opened doors of opportunities to him. “Since 2008, I have done about six films – half did well, half didn’t, which is not a bad score at all," said the Kill Dil actor.

Ali also believes that more cross-border collaborations are in the pipeline. “In future, there will be a lot of collaboration between India and Pakistan cinema, artist exchange between the two countries is bound to increase. In fact, it’s great to see international collaborations.

"Nowadays, a lot of this is happening; for instance, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra are doing cross-over projects. The world is becoming more compact and more global; so, a lot more exchange between artists is happening. It is tremendous and fantastic, I’d love to be part of that process too be it music or acting," said Ali.

On the work front, the rockstar is currently working on another Bollywood project. "I am doing another film and will continue to do films. At the same time, I am doing films in Pakistan as well," he said.

Ali kept the details of his Bollywood project under wrap saying, “I am very excited about the film, but I can’t talk much about it. In due time, the makers will make an announcement."

Salim Khan | 8 years ago | Reply Where is the collaboration? Its just some actors are working in Indian films and for which they are being paid. Collaboration means something that Pakistan has that Indians don't have. That's not the case. We are depending on the charity of Indians to work there.
