KARACHI: A militant was killed while three police personnel injured in an exchange of fire in the Pirabad neighbourhood of Karachi on Saturday.

According to assistant sub-inspector, Aftab, of Pirabad police station, an exchange of fire took place between the Counter-terrorism Department (CTD) and militants of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) near Mianwali Colony.

A militant identified as Mohammad Khan was killed while his accomplice Zaki managed to fled from the scene.

Initial reports further revealed two police personnel, identified as Sajid and Shahzad and a passerby Mujeeb, were also injured as a result of the firing. The injured and the bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Police encounter: Four ‘militants’ killed

On April 3, four suspected militants were killed during an exchange of fire with the police in Malir's Quaidabad area.

Police, paramilitary Rangers and other law enforcement agencies are busy in an operation in Karachi since September 5, 2013 to root out crime and terrorism from the megalopolis.
