LHC judge challenges SJC’s proceedings

The petitioner has requested the SC to declare April 19 show cause notice as unlawful

ISLAMABAD: A serving Lahore High Court’s judge has challenged the Supreme Judicial Council’s proceedings against him for his alleged misconduct. A constitutional petition has been filed by a LHC judge in the Supreme Court under Article 184(3) of the constitution against the issuance of a show-cause notice to him by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC). The show cause notice was issued to LHC judge on April 19 under sub-para (1) of para 9 of the Supreme Judicial Council’s procedure of Enquiry 2015. The council asked him to submit a reply to the show-cause notice within 14 days. Advocate on Record Arshad Ali Chaudhry has confirmed that he has fled the constitutional petition in the apex court on behalf of the high court judge. However, he stated that the number of the petition is yet to be allotted. The petitioner has requested the SC to declare April 19 show cause notice as unlawful, unconstitutional without jurisdiction and are contrary to public interest.
