Progress: CM wants 5 livestock farms in Cholistan
He reviewed development projects underway in South Punjab
BAHAWALPUR:
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif reviewed several development projects in Bahawalpur on Friday.
The six-hour meeting at the Commissioner’s Office was told that the third phase of the Rural Roads Programme would be launched next month. The chief minister was told that 46 water filtration plants had been installed in Bahawalpur under the Saaf Pani Project.
Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that safe drinking water should be made accessible to every citizen. “Every tehsil in south Punjab must have safe water,” he said.
The chief minister said funds for public interest projects should be released to ensure timely completion of these projects.
He said the plan for a cadet college in Rahim Yar Khan was being finalised. He said work on the college would start later in the year.
The chief minister also ordered establishment of five livestock farms in Cholistan.
“Steps are being taken to make these farms functional,” he said. The chief minister said a comprehensive plan should be evolved to promote education in Cholistan’s settled area.
The chief minister said work on education and health schemes should be completed quickly.
