Pregnant woman commits suicide in Abbottabad
She was rushed to Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) where doctors pumped her stomach, however, she did not survive
ABBOTTABAD:
A woman reportedly committed suicide in Abbottabad Thursday evening. She has been identified as 23-year-old Riffat Bibi. A police official told The Express Tribune Tayyab Hussain, a resident of Mohallah Muhammad Zai in Nawanshehr, said his wife consumed acid and lost consciousness.
She was rushed to Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) where doctors pumped her stomach. Riffat Bibi was admitted to the intensive care unit. However, she did not survive.
“She was a mother of three and was six months pregnant,” he said.
According to Hussain, the reason behind the suicide remains unknown. Police have started investigating the incident.
Separately, a man reportedly committed suicide in a village in Pind Kamal Khan union council in Haripur on Friday. An official of Kotnajibullah police told The Express Tribune 30-year-old Gulistan went to his room after lunch and stayed there for two hours. His family found him hanging from a ceiling fan. The reason behind the suicide remains unknown.
A large number of suicide cases have been reported from Abbottabad in April.
Last week, a woman committed suicide in Havelian tehsil, Abbottabad. The deceased was identified as 28-year-old Lubna Bibi. She consumed a poisonous substance after Maghrib prayers on April 23. Lubna Bibi was taken to a health centre and later shifted to ATH.
On April 21, a man hanged himself from a ceiling fan in Mohallah Usmania Upper Kehal. According to a police report, 21-year-old Malik Kashif, a student, took this step after an argument with his mother.
Earlier this month, 20-year-old Mehtab, who worked at a CNG filling station near Mohallah Arambagh, attempted to kill himself with a 30-bore pistol.
