Preventive measures : EPI continues in Pindi in full swing

Under the ongoing vigorous drive said that 1,850 lady health workers were participating

RAWALPINDI: A week long National Expanded Programme for Immunisation (EPI) started in all tehsils and towns of teh district on April, 24 is underway in full swing.  Executive District Officer (EDO-Health) Dr Arshad Ali Sabir said Punjab government is actively following EPI, a disease prevention programme to reduce illness, disability and mortality rate to achieve 100 per cent results set for the health sector under the millennium development goal. Under the ongoing vigorous drive said that 1,850 lady health workers, Allied Hospitals and Tehsil Headquarter Hospitals were participating in the national drive to take preventive measures and effectively fight chronic diseases like polio, measles, pertussis, diphtheria, tetanus, Hepatitis-B and tuberculosis. District Programme Coordinator, Dr Javaid Iqbal Chaudary said different vaccinations were being administered to children of two years of age besides those who missed it during the last two year.
