KARACHI:

The Sindh government, with the help of Karachi Port Trust (KPT), is planning to construct a flyover, which will directly connect the residents of Clifton and Defence Housing Authority with District West.

Local government minister Jam Khan Shoro revealed this after a meeting with the KPT chairperson Vice-Admiral Shafqat Jawed on Thursday.

Incomplete Malir-15 flyover opened in ‘public interest’

According to Shoro, the flyover will directly benefit Karachi as it will start from Clifton and will stretch till Hawke's Bay and Manora.

The Sindh government will provide the KPT with land and other facilities that are needed, said Shoro, adding that, with the elevated bridge, the population of District West in Hawke's Bay and Manora will benefit the most as their commute towards District South will become easy.

Board Office flyover to be knocked down

Jawed said that, with the construction of the bridge, those areas of District West district that are away from the main city can also be easily connected. Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) technical services director-general Niaz Somroo said that the project was between the KPT and the Sindh government and that the KMC has nothing to do with it.
