Drug peddling: Accused denied bail

The petitioner’s counsel submitted that the ANF had arrested him on the basis of mere suspicion

LAHORE: A Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench on Thursday dismissed a bail application by a man held in connection with drug smuggling.  The bench, headed by Justice Syed Muhammad Kazim Raza Shamsi, heard the bail application filed by Aman Khan. The petitioner’s counsel submitted that the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) had arrested him on the basis of mere suspicion and that the recovered drugs did not belong to him. He requested the court to grant bail to his client. ANF Special Prosecutor Anwar Hameed submitted that the accused was arrested in August 2015 from Naizi Bus Stand along with  Shahab Din, Baaz Khan and Ilyas Khan. He said a large quantity of opium had been recovered from them. He said the accused had been smuggling drugs into the province.
