Panama leaks: ‘Consultation over ToRs will serve govt’s interest best’
Sarwar stressed the need for unity among opposition parties
LAHORE:
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Chaudhry Sarwar said on Tuesday the government would not be allowed to proceed with the inquiry on the Panama Leaks without consultation with the opposition parties.
He said PTI chief Imran Khan would announce the party’s strategy on the issue in his address to the May 1 rally in Lahore.
Sarwar stressed the need for unity among opposition parties. He was speaking to party workers at a meeting held to finalise arrangements for the May 1 gathering. Sarwar said it was in the best interest of the government to finalise the terms of reference for the inquiry commission in consultation with the opposition parties. This would ensure transparency in the proceedings of the commission, he said. Sarwar said it appeared that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was worried about the May 1 rally. He alleged that the provincial government was harassing public transporters to dissuade them from extending services to the PTI on the rally day. PTI leader Aleem Khan was on Tuesday made chief organiser for the May 1 event.
