Caught red-handed: CTD arrests three political workers

The suspects were wanted in cases of targeted killing including murder of a political leader

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Monday to have apprehended three political workers.


The suspects, identified as Mudassir Ali Khan, Shafqat Ali and Faiz Jilani, were claimed to be affiliated with a notorious wing of a political party. They were arrested during a raid at North Karachi by the Pakistan-Based Terrorists Intelligence Group (PBTIG) unit of the CTD.


"We were tipped off about the presence of these suspects in North Karachi area," claimed CTD SSP Amir Farooqui at a press conference. One of their accomplices, Asif Mehmood, managed to escape during the raid. The suspects were wanted in cases of targeted killing including murder of a political leader, a bus driver and three Balochis, he said.


"Their involvement in these cases has been confirmed by the relevant police stations," he claimed. Weapons were also seized from them including a machine gun, three 7mm rifles, a Kalashnikov.
