National Golf Championship: Taimur fends off opposition to claim title
Finished with aggregate score of three-over par, just one stroke ahead of Mehmood.
FAISALABAD:
Taimur Khan carded a three-over-par 75 on the final day to clinch the 55th National Amateur Golf Championship after finishing with an aggregate score of three-over-par 291 at the Defence Raya Golf Course in Lahore yesterday.
Taimur enjoyed a brilliant day on the golf course and except for a brief period where he carded a triple bogey at the 13th hole, he remained on course for the title.
The triple bogey certainly slimmed his chances of victory with Ghazanfar Mehmood taking the lead and looking in command after the 13th hole. However, Taimur bounced back and carded par scores on the 14th and 15th holes, as Mehmood carded bogeys, to take the lead yet again.

Taimur then held firm and ended the fourth round with a one stroke lead to claim the title. “It is a great moment for me,” he said. “I will take my golf career forward with more vigour and devotion.”
Mehmood, on the other end, finished with an aggregate score of four-over-par 292 to secure second place, while Royal Palm’s Mohammad Rehman and Sindh’s Ahmed Ali Shah both finished with a score of nine-over-par 297.
Meanwhile in the amateur’s event, Lahore Garrison’s Ahmed Baig finished with a score of 285 to bag the title, while Defence Raya’s Zunair Aleem and Munir Hussain finished second and third with a score of 286 and 287 respectively.
