Encounter: Three alleged militants killed in shoot-out

The police also claim to have recovered at least two kilogrammes of explosives, a motorcycle and arms

Three suspected militants belonging to a banned outfit were killed during an exchange of fire with the police in Sohrab Goth on Thursday afternoon. Police said that the shoot-out between the police and the militants occurred when the District Malir police conducted a raid at a hideout of the militants at Faqira Goth within the limits of SITE Super Highway police station.


Two of the suspects were later identified as Said Badshah alias Munshi and Nadir alias China, while the third suspect has yet to be identified.

The police also claim to have recovered at least two kilogrammes of explosives, a motorcycle and arms and ammunitions. SHO Asmatullah Marwat said that the militants belonged to the Sher Khan group of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and Badshah was the local commander of the group. They had been involved in attacks on Rangers and police, kidnappings and targeted killings, the police said. They used to visit Afghanistan and had also been involved in attacks on security forces in Afghanistan.
