Raid: Explosives seized from Afghan national

CTD Haripur DSP said the accused belonged to Lughman province in Afghanistan

HARIPUR: The counter-terrorism department seized explosives from an Afghan national on Sirikot Road on Monday. CTD Haripur DSP Saeed Khan told journalists law-enforcement officers acted on a tip-off from an intelligence agency and raided a house in Afghan camp No 6 on Sirikot Road. At least five kilogrammes of explosives, two and a half kilogrammes of detonators, safety fuses, five-foot-long wire and a pistol were confiscated in the raid. Saeed said the accused, Muhammad Asif who is the son of Faiz Muhammad, belonged to Lughman province in Afghanistan and was currently residing in Nowshera. He added Asif’s purpose of coming to Haripur with explosive materials has yet to be ascertained.
