A delegation of vice-chancellors of universities of Belarus visited the Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Monday to discuss collaboration in higher education between the two countries.
The delegation, headed by the Ministry of Education First Deputy Vadim Bogush, met HEC Chairperson Dr Mukhtar Ahmed to explore avenues for partnership and knowledge exchange with Pakistani higher education institutes.
Ahmed welcomed the delegation and appreciated Belarusian expertise in scientific research and development including nano-technology, biotechnology, innovation, commerce, vocational education and green technology.
He said HEC would like to learn from Belarus’s experience.
The chairperson said that the HEC would also send a group of vice-chancellors to Belarus to work out possibilities of academic collaboration.
“We need to go beyond MoUs and agreements to achieve academic partnership in a tangible and practical way,” stressed Ahmed.
He urged the delegates to suggest the potential areas for collaboration.
Vadim Bogush, who is also an academic and is at present supervising three PhD students, said that he would make use of the opportunity the visit has provided them and encourage exchange of knowledge in areas of nanotechnology, space technology and sports.
