Over-billing issues: KE asked to deploy more meter readers
She stated this while hearing applications of citizens Muhammad Wakeel and Muhammad Kashif against over-billing
KARACHI:
Senior adviser at the federal ombudsman’s regional office, Farzana Jabeen, has asked K-Electric to deploy more meter readers for ensuring that bills are sent to consumers in accordance with the actual consumption of electricity. She stated this while hearing applications of citizens Muhammad Wakeel and Muhammad Kashif against over-billing by the city’s power utility, according to a statement issued on Sunday. She was of the view that sending bills without actually reading meters was an injustice to electricity consumers. She said consumers who have got meters installed have the right to pay their bills as per the consumption of electricity. The adviser, hearing the applications of Shehzad Khan and Muhammad Waseem, said that to impose a six-month fine on consumers was ‘illegal’.
