A bomb hoax on Saturday triggered panic among the police and district government as bomb disposal squads scrambled for a five star hotel and a shopping centre in Rawalpindi.


The National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA) received a call on its emergency number at 1145 am.

Islamabad airport cleared after bomb hoax


The caller using a cell phone said that bombs were “being placed” at Parliament House in Islamabad, Pearl Continental Hotel Rawalpindi and a shopping centre in Rawalpindi.

Following the call, the NACTA officials alerted Islamabad and Rawalpindi police. Police and bomb disposal squad in Rawalpindi searched but found no bomb at the hotel.

They also scanned major shopping malls in Saddar as the caller had not identified the shopping centre under threat.
