Man and his mother held at airport on smuggling charges
As per preliminary investigations, the suspected man and woman denied the allegations against them
ISLAMABAD:
An Airport Security Force (ASF) team on Friday foiled an attempt to smuggle heroin out of the country and arrested two passengers from the Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
The suspects, Fayyaz Khan and his mother, were scheduled to fly to Saudi Arabia to perform Ummrah, when the ASF recovered 1 kilogramme of heroin from their luggage.
The suspects are both residents of Malakand.
As per preliminary investigations, the suspected man and woman denied the allegations against them.
They told investigators they had no idea how the drugs came to be in their luggage.
Following the interrogation, the ASF handed over both suspects to local police. The police say they are pursuing the investigation into the suspected smugglers.
