Finance ministry: ‘Revenue target achieved till third quarter’

The minister said special privileges have also been reduced which were being enjoyed by the elite class of the country

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that the government has achieved its targets of revenue collection till the third quarter of the current fiscal year. Talking to a private news channel, he said total collection has witnessed about 20% growth rate in the last nine months.  He said the government collected Rs297 billion revenue against the set target of Rs230 billion from January to March this year which reflects sincere measures being taken in the sector. The minister said special privileges have also been reduced which were being enjoyed by the elite class of the country. The reduction has also added sufficient amount of revenue to the treasury. Dar said that some reforms in laws of Federal Board of Revenue(FBR) were also introduced which have helped raise tax collection. “Huge funds have been allocated for infrastructural development projects in the country.”
