KARACHI:
From making countless appearances on the ramp to being roped in by ace designer duo, Sana Safinaz, for their 2016 lawn campaign, model Amna Babar has indeed walked the walk. She spoke to The Express Tribune regarding projects in the pipeline and unwillingness to get into films any time soon.

While Babar has been on a career break since December, she will be seen on the ramp at Fashion Pakistan Week (FPW) this weekend. “I am currently stressing on my modelling career and giving it my best shot,” said Babar, adding she has no plans of venturing into films for at least two years. “I am not planning to step into the world of films any time soon. But if I get an extremely good offer, I might just take it.”

Curtain call: PSFW 2016 bows out

Asked whether she would prefer to kick-start her acting career in her home-country, or Bollywood, she picked the former. “I would certainly opt for a Pakistani film for my first project. Bollywood bohot door ki baat hai. Pehlay apni Pehchan Pakistan mein tou bana lein. [Bollywood is too far-fetched. I would like to be recognised in Pakistan first],” quipped Babar.

Pakistani artistes generally consider Bollywood a shorter stairway to fame and glory but Babar begs to differ. “Many of us feel if we don’t go to Bollywood, we won’t become famous or get the same kind of love in our country. One shouldn’t beg for an offer but wait for it.”

PSFW 2016: Upping the style ante

While Babar made a minor appearance at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week in March, she revealed she has not signed any project following her shoot for Sana Safinaz because of contractual agreements. “I did the Sana Safinaz lawn campaign in December and since I could only sign one major contract, I was unable to model for other designers.”
