A serving inspector of the Islamabad police and his son were injured when their house was gutted by a gas cylinder explosion in a remote village of Peeran union council, family said on Friday. However, local police denied any knowledge of the incident.
Villagers rescued the father and son, and took them to King Abdullah Hospital from where both were referred to PIMS Islamabad for tertiary care. The victims were said to be out of danger. In the fire, the officer's double story house was gutted and belongings worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were lost, the village council chairperson said.

Abdul Qayyum Khan, a relative of the victim, and village council chairperson Maira Amjad Ali told the media Inspector Naseem was posted in Islamabad. He was at home and trying to fix a leaking LPG cylinder Thursday evening when it exploded and left him injured. His son Naeem, 14, was also injured when he tried to extinguish the fire, family members said.
