US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has said that Pakistan is a vital country for the United States because it has nuclear weapons.

“Pakistan is a very very vital problem and really vital country for us because they have nuclear weapons and they have to get a hold of the situation,” he said while being interviewed by CNN anchor Anderson Cooper recently.

The anchor person had Trump asked about his tweet in which he deplored the March 28 suicide attack at Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park in Lahore, saying that he alone could solve the problem.

“It is absolutely a horrible story but I am talking about radical Islamic terrorism that I will solve far better than anybody else running [the campaign],” Trump said.

US should remain in Afghanistan to protect Pakistan's nuclear arms, says Trump

Trump claimed that of all the running candidates only he could solve the ‘terror problems’ in Pakistan as he knew his competition.

Talking further about the nuclear arms, he said this is the biggest issue of our times which needs to be addressed as he is worried about nuclear proliferation.

On the other hand, the presidential candidate also advocated that Japan and South Korea should have nuclear weapons.

“At some point I have to say that we are better off if Japan protects itself against the maniac and North Korea were better off frankly if South Korea is going to start to protect itself,” he said.

“They have to protect themselves or they have to pay us,” he added.

Trump was of the opinion that he might not like nuclear proliferation but the United States cannot anymore support Japan and South Korea militarily.

He went on to say, “I hate nuclear proliferation. The only global warming I am worried about is nuclear global warming because that’s the single biggest threat so it’s not that on the fact we can’t afford it anymore.”

SK | 8 years ago | Reply @jun: Trump says that America needs to monitor Pakistan because it has nukes. Can Mr Trump or any of his supporter explain why he doesn't require same vigilance towards India. India too is a nuclear state. Or Mr Trump's concerns emerges out of his prejudices. Don't worry Mr Trump if by any stroke of chance you become United States President we are ready to face you.
