Toronto sign lit up green and white to pay tribute to Lahore blast victims

A solemn vigil was also held in Toronto to remember the innocent victims of the terrorist attacks in Lahore

The attack on Lahore’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal park on Easter shocked everyone to the core. Words of sympathy and solidarity poured in from around the world with many world leaders and celebrities condemning the attack.

In one such message of solidarity, the Toronto sign was lit up green and white to remember the innocent victims of the Lahore suicide attack which claimed 72 lives and left over 200 injured.

"Tonight, the Toronto sign is lit green and white to remember the innocent victims of Lahore, Pakistan," John Tory, the mayor of Toronto tweeted.

Tory clarified that the sign was to be lit up sooner but was delyaed due to technical issues. He also announced that there was to be a vigil at Queen's Park to honour the victims.

"A solemn vigil tonight to remember the innocent victims of the terrorist attacks in Lahore, Pakistan," Tory tweeted, sharing photos of the vigil.



Further, the mayor of Toronto had taken to Twitter on the day of the attack to condemn the terrorist act, saying, "My thoughts & prayers are with the Pakistani community in Toronto and abroad after the horrific terrorist attacks in Lahore."
