Cleaning the city: Garbage stations to be constructed

KARACHI: Three garbage transfer stations will be constructed for carrying garbage in Landhi, Korangi and adjoining areas to landfill sites, said Karachi Metropolitan Corporation administrator Roshan Ali Shaikh. He also called for the speedy construction of the garbage transfer stations in the metropolis. He issued the directive during a visit to the construction site of the garbage transfer station in Korangi on Sunday. Such stations will help dispose the garbage in the metropolis in a scientific manner, he said. There will also be separate garbage transfer stations for the shifting of domestic, industrial and hospital garbage from Landhi to Korangi, it was revealed. During the visit, the administrator also reviewed the cleanliness measures in the city besides the provision of civic facilities.
