Drug bust: ANF sizes over 80kg drugs, seven arrested

Operations conducted in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Attock, Jhelum

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested seven suspected drug pushers and recovered over 80 kg of illicit drugs in different areas of Rawalpindi division and Islamabad, said a press release on Sunday.

An ANF team intercepted a truck (E-8213 DI Khan) on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway near Burhan interchange and recovered 66 kg hashish concealed in secret cavities of the truck.

In another operation, ANF and the Airport Security Force arrested Subhan All, a resident of Swabi, at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport after 870 grammes of ice was recovered from him. The suspect was booked on a Jeddah-bound flight of the Pakistan International Airlines.

An ANF Rawalpindi team also arrested a drug carrier near Chungi No 26, GT Road, Islamabad and recovered five kg hashish from him. Another suspect was arrested in possession of 3 kg hashish near Burma bus stop in Islamabad.

Another suspect was arrested with 3.6 kg hashish near Umania Restaurant on GT Road near Hattian in Attock district. ANF also arrested two suspected drug pushers with 610 grammes of heroin at Sohawa bus stop on the GT Road in Jhelum district.

In yet another operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested Sajid Ali in possession of 1 kg hashish in Sector I-10/4, Islamabad.

Separate cases have been registered against all the suspects and further investigation is under way.
