Graduation ceremony of around 300 officers held at PAF Academy

Award ceremony followed by performances by Eaglets, Sherdills, JF-17 thunder aircraft

RISALPUR: The graduation ceremony of around 300 officers, including 164 who were under training, was held at Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Academy in Risalpur on Friday, stated a press release issued on Friday.

While addressing graduating officers, Turkish Air Force Commander General Abidin Unal, the chief guest on the occasion, said the relationship between Pakistan and Turkey goes beyond the level of governments and permeates all sections of societies.

According to the press release, Unal said air forces of both countries are “maintaining close collaboration in areas of operations, maintenance and training”. He also acknowledged the role of PAF officers towards achieving national security.

Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman thanked Unal for providing 34 T-37 aircraft as a gift for ab initio flight training of PAF pilots.

As per the press statement, the chief guest awarded branch insignias to graduating officers and gave trophies to distinction holders. He also awarded Quaid-e-Azam Banner to the best squadron.

Pilot officer Bilal Hussain received Chief of Air Staff Trophy, pilot officer Bilal Bin Ilyas won Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Trophy in general service training and pilot officer Faisal Shahzad won the coveted Sword of Honour for outstanding performances.

In the college of aeronautical engineering, pilot officer Aquib Zulfiqar won Air Staff Trophy, pilot officer Hassan Siddique received Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Trophy. Meanwhile, pilot officer Jamalur Rasool won the coveted Sword of Honour for their remarkable performances.

The document also stated the ceremony was followed by a performance by Eaglets – the para motor gliding team of the academy.
