Visa-less travel: Foreign air carriers fined for flouting rules
The agency has already recovered Rs4 million from the airlines and deposited the sum

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has issued fine notices of up to Rs9 million to different foreign airlines for carrying passengers to Pakistan without a valid visa.
The agency has already recovered Rs4 million from the airlines and deposited the sum with the national exchequer in this connection, said spokesman to the interior ministry on Thursday.
On the directives of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, all airlines have been strictly told not to carry any person into Pakistan who don’t have visa.
On Thursday morning a US citizen, Joseph Henry Hirsch, was declared inadmissible and handed over to the airline for return journey at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad as he was travelling to Pakistan with an invalid visa. He had arrived in Pakistan via Oman Airline and the fine notice was served to the airline for violating set rules and procedures.
