KARACHI:

High Commissioner of Kenya Professor Julius Kibet Bitok has said trade between Pakistan and Kenya stood at around $600 million which has failed to depict the true potential that exists between the two countries.

“Efforts must be made by both sides to increase the existing volume to somewhere between $1 and $2 billion in the next couple of years,” he said. Bitok suggested that in order to achieve this, business communities of both sides should be encouraged and must focus on visits of trade delegations along with participation in trade fairs.

Exchanging views with the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) office-bearers and managing committee members at a meeting at the KCCI, the high commissioner added Pakistan and Kenya had enjoyed cordial relations which were mainly driven by improved trade from Karachi, which was the focal point between business communities of the two countries.
