KARACHI:
After a lull of barely three days, unidentified assailants attacked another check post of the Rangers in Korangi. However, no casualty was reported in the latest attack.

On Friday, at least three troops of the paramilitary force and a passerby were injured when unidentified men threw a homemade explosive device at a Rangers' check post in Korangi.

Monday's attack occurred in the same area, within the limits of the Zaman Town police station. No official or civilian was hurt in the incident, however, a boundary wall of the check post was damaged.

Following the attack, an extra contingent of Rangers and police reached the site and collected evidence. "It was a locally made bomb thrown by motorcyclists," explained DSP Ali Muhammad Khosa while talking to The Express Tribune.

Experts from the bomb disposal squad were also called to examine the blast site. "It was an improvised explosive device that weighed around 120 grammes," explained an official.

Police have registered a case against unidentified persons and initiated further investigation. However, law enforcement agencies have yet to apprehend any of the suspects involved in earlier attacks at Rangers' posts.

With the beginning of the new year, police and Rangers have been facing frequent attacks at their police stations, check posts and patrolling mobiles in Karachi, particularly in districts Central, West and East.

Earlier, Rangers' check posts have been attacked in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Essa Nagri, Nazimabad, Gujjar Nullah and Korangi.

After Friday's attack at the Rangers' post, the paramilitary force's chief, Maj Gen Bilal Akbar had told journalists that four people suspected to be involved in the attack were arrested, but did not disclose their names.
