KARACHI:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed grief over the death of long-time party worker Hassan Mama.

Mama was from Federal B Area in Karachi and, according to the party, was a devoted worker who had been imprisoned during the Movement for Restoration of Democracy (MRD) during General Zia’s tenure.

The worker attended the PPP protest outside Karachi Press Club on Sunday and suddenly passed away due to a heart attack. In a condolence message, the PPP chairperson said that he came to know that Mama had been advised bed rest by doctors but he attended the protest against the decision to allow Musharraf to escape abroad. Bilawal said that Mama was a devoted worker and will be missed. He is also admired for his contribution in the restoration of democracy during the dictator’s regime.
