ISLAMABAD: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has observed Earth Hour at Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) Islamabad to mark the awareness campaign about the environment issues globally.

Officers and staff of a number of organisations at the airport participated whole heartedly in the ceremony held on Saturday late.

Earth Hour was first initiated by the WWF in 2007, which has now become the world’s largest environmental awareness initiative and attracts participation from all over the world.

CAA and the airport management held a symbolic walk holding candles in their hands and banners with key messages regarding the importance of saving energy while observing Earth Hour.

As part of the event, Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad showed solidarity against the climate change by switching off all non-operational lights at the airport for one hour.

On the occasion, Director General CAA showed solidarity to this cause by reinforcing authority’s commitment to encourage an interconnected global community, to share the opportunities and challenges of creating a sustainable world.
