KARACHI: The Grand Democratic Alliance has announced a mass movement across the province from April 1 against corruption and bad governance in the Sindh government.

An alliance meeting was held on Sunday at the residence of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) Sindh chapter president and federal minister Pir Sadaruddin Shah Rashdi and was attended by Mumtaz Bhutto, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, Liaquat Ali Jatoi, Ghaus Bux Mahar, Haji Shafi Jamote, Irfanullah Marwat, Ayaz Latif Palijo, Masroor Jatoi, Zaffar Ali Shah and others.

The alliance members decided that the first rally will start from Hyderabad and will move to different districts of the province, including Tando Allahyar, Mirpurkhas and Umerkot, on April 2. The leaders of the alliance will also speak at public gatherings in major cities on the same day.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Palijo said that the alliance members have decided to launch a public movement against the corrupt rulers of Sindh. On the second day, the rally will move to Mithi, Badin and cross different cities where public gatherings will also be arranged, he explained.

Rashdi said that the leaders of the alliance will speak to the public against the Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) bad governance, adding that the struggle will continue until the masses are free from the present rulers of the province.

Dr Mirza said that his group defeated the PPP candidates in Badin district for the first time in 17 years. He said that the people of Sindh are unhappy with the province's current rulers. "The people of Badin rejected the PPP leaders and now the whole province will follow," he vowed.
