LAHORE:

Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal on Saturday directed officials to ensure the provision of free medicines and best healthcare facilities across all hospitals province-wide.

The chief secretary made the remarks while chairing over a meeting convened to review the provision of facilities at hospitals across the province. Gondal said no negligence would be tolerated in this regard. He said it was the responsibility of DOs to realise improvement targets across the health and education sectors. Gondal also directed commissioners and DCOs to personally monitor both sectors and furnish monthly reports in this regard.

Speaking to those present on the occasion, the chief secretary said just like urban areas, the provision of quality healthcare to residents of rural areas was a foremost priority of the government. He said all resources were being provided to ensure the provision of healthcare to people at their doorstep. Gondal said doctors working in remote areas were being given attractive salaries and other benefits to encourage greater dedication and commitment. The chief secretary said no laxity would be tolerated when it came to ensuring the provision of quality healthcare to the people.

Gondal directed the DCOs to ensure 100 per cent utilisation of funds earmarked for ensuring the provision of missing facilities and safety of school buildings. The chief secretary said the performance of health and education sectors would also be reviewed in the forthcoming commissioners’ conference slated to be organised at the end of the month. The Layyah, Muzaffargarh and Bhakkar DCOs and EDOs also briefed those present on the occasion.
