DI KHAN:

A qingqi driver set his vehicle ablaze outside a police station in Tank Adda Bazaar, DI Khan on Saturday. The driver was provoked after he was repeatedly fined by the traffic police and acted in sheer frustration.

A police official confirmed the incident to The Express Tribune. “Police have arrested Jamshed Mehsud and a case has been registered against him,” he said.

A local told The Express Tribune Mehsud was upset over the police’s attitude towards him as he was issued several challans.

“On Saturday, he brought his qingqi outside the police station and set it on fire,” he added. According to the local, police and passers-by tried to extinguish the flames.

“However, the qingqi was destroyed,” he said.

Police have initiated a campaign in DI Khan against those rickshaws which do not bear a registration number or have been registered in other districts. Jamshed’s qingqi was registered in Bhakkar, Punjab.
